The MOfficials are a group of 150 junior hockey referees and linesmen from western Canada that have set out to eject prostate cancer from the game of life by growing moustaches during the popular Movember campaign.
Founded in 2010 by Western Hockey League referee Colby Smith and linesman Justin Hull, the two had a vision of uniting the men who wear stripes to form a team and raise money. For their inaugural year, the MOfficials set a goal of raising $10,000. By the end of Movember 2010, The MOfficials raised $14,800 and finished 98th in all of Canada for teams with 11 or more members. The moustaches of referees and linesmen glistened off the freshly cleaned ice surfaces all across the west. A MOvement had been created.
